Crayon on Sandpaper
Supplies Needed:
- Sandpaper (not coarsest, it will tear up your crayons too much)
- Crayons
- Iron - You must have parent supervision when using an iron!!!
- Newspaper or other scrap paper

Begin with a piece of sandpaper. You will be drawing on the rough side as seen on the far left. On the back of the sandpaper is a number. The smaller the number, the roughter the sandpaper. 80 works well, but you can go to a larger number if you choose. |
| Begin drawing with your choice of crayon. Start by drawing the outside shapes. |

As you color, think about coloring some areas dark and some light. |
You can also blend colors together. When you overlap colors, they will blend when you iron the picture. |

Continue drawing the main parts of your picture. Finish all of the objects before you begin the background. |
For the background, you can color more lightly. This will help emphasize the main parts of the drawing. |
|
|
You do not have to color the entire page. It is totally up to you. |
When you are completely finished coloring, lay the drawing face down on your scrap paper. |

Allow you iron to heat up for a few minutes. Put it in a medium setting. Iron the back of the sandpaper evenly. Do not leave the iron in any one place for too long. After ironing you are done! |
The finished product may not look very different in my picture, but you will definitely see a difference in your own finished product. Give it a try, the sand makes it shiny! |
