Gather up supplies and cover work area. Begin to apply small paper strips inside the muffin cups. If your puffin pan is rough or rusty, you may need to put a bit of oil on the pan help the dry paper peal off later. |
| Fill two muffin cups with several layers of paper strips for each maraca (if making 2 maracas, fill 4 muffin cups). Be sure to smooth the strips as you apply them. |

Once the paper mache dries, trip the top edges of the paper cups as shown here. You want a fairly straight edge so two of the cups can be taped together. |
|
Put the jingle bells (or foil balls) inside the cups and tape them together as shown here. |

Make a foil handle and tape it onto the bottom of one cup. (I make the handle out of foil instead of paper mache so that it is a bit sturdier). |
|
Paper mache over the tape and the foil. |

Paint a base coat on the maraca once all paper mache is dry. You may need to paint several coats of paint to cover the news print. |
Paint decorations and designs onto the dried maraca and have fun! |
